The powdered inner bark of the Cinnamon tree is used in as a seasoning for meat, fast food, sauces, pickles, baked goods, confectionery and cola-type drinks. The leaf oil is also used as a flavouring agent for seasonings and savoury snacks.

Cinnamon bark oil is employed in dental and pharmaceutical preparations. Cinnamon drops were once regarded as a tonic, a sedative in childbirth, a remedy for many common disorders and as a breath freshner.

The fruit is eaten and spread by birds.

Description: Tree, up to 8-17 m, diameter 30-60 cm.
Distributions: Asia, africa, central america, south america
Habitat: Tropical rainforest, but can also be found in other forest types as an introduced invasive.
