De lange bladeren worden gebruikt om 'zongi' in te wikkelen. Dit is een traditioneel Chinees gerecht dat gemaakt wordt van rijst en verschillende vullingen. De pakketjes worden gekookt of gestoomd. In het westen worden de pakketjes 'dumplings' genoemd.
