Attracts hummingbirds.

The culred leaf heads are mostly eaten cooked, but can also be used raw in salads. The best part of the hosta is the ‘hoston’, the rolled up leaf as it emerges in the spring.

Most of the Hosta sp. that provide the modern plants were introduced from Japan to Europe by Philipp Franz von Siebold in the mid-19th century.
